Is a Green Hummer Limo Really Possible? |

For anybody with any kind of environmental consciousness, the idea of renting a Hummer limo is probably about as appealing as pouring a 50-gallon drum of toxic waste onto your front yard. But, with the advances in automotive technology that have been occurring recently, that needn't be the case. It may be possible within the next two or three years to rent a Hummer limo that can truly be called a green vehicle. Now before you call the men with the white coats and the butterfly net to haul me off, hear me out. If you have a Hummer limo with a diesel engine, then it's relatively simple and inexpensive to modify the engine to make it run on biodiesel, a.k.a. soybean oil, or used fryer oil, or whatever other biofuels you can come up with to fill your gas tank. So, if somebody is smart, they'll set up a Hummer limo service in Hollywood that uses diesel Hummers with stretched bodies to ferry around the Beautiful People who have to at least pretend to be Green in order to be socially acceptable. Who knows, if you build a diesel Hummer limo, you might even get Ed Begley, Jr. to ride in one. Now that would be something to see! |
